Atlaspong for classrooms and quiz clubs
A place name chain game for geography teachers. Free to try. Read this page in two minutes.
What it is
Students take turns naming a place that starts with the last letter of the last one. They play against a friendly bot or against each other. Every right answer unlocks a short fact, and a full game takes five minutes.
A five minute starter
Use one phone and a projector, or no devices at all.
- Split the class into two or three teams. Pick a first place together, or start with S.
- The next team names a real place that starts with the last letter of that place. Bombay for Mumbai and other old names count.
- Allowed places are countries, states, cities, towns and the seven continents. No rivers, mountains or landmarks.
- A place can be used once. Keep the list on the board.
- Three wrong answers, or no answer in 30 seconds, and a team is out.
- After each place, read out its fact (the game shows one for every place). The last team in wins.

What is true today
- It is free to play. It has no ads.
- No student email address or password is needed. It works in a phone browser and can be added to the home screen.
- There are more than 1,200 places. Facts are written in our own words and checked against Wikipedia.
- Players aged 13 and over can choose a nickname and appear on a weekly leaderboard. Younger children use kid mode, which has no nicknames, no leaderboards and no analytics. Kid mode is meant for a grown-up to sit beside the child.
- Friends rooms (13 and up) let 2 to 8 people play from one link, with no chat.
- Read the Privacy page for what is kept and for how long.
We have not built teacher accounts or class codes yet.
